Privacy policy

The short version

The Stockpile app collects nothing: your scans stay on your phone, and a report leaves it only when you send it. This website keeps your email address only if you join the waitlist, and uses it to tell you about Stockpile: a confirmation when you join, the launch, and occasional news about the app. You can leave the list at any time with one click.

Who we are

Stockpile is made by HelixInnovations, New Zealand. We are responsible for the information described here under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. Write to Stockpile.volume@gmail.com about anything in this policy.

The app

The app has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it does not send your data to us or to anyone else.

• Camera and LiDAR are used only while you are scanning, to measure the pile. The camera feed is not recorded or sent anywhere.
• Point clouds are processed on the phone. The results (volume, 3D surface, one still photo of the pile per scan, PDF report, notes and project names) are stored only on your phone, inside the app.
• When you share a report, it goes through the app you choose in the share sheet (Mail, Gmail, Messages, AirDrop and so on), to the people you choose, from your own account. We have no access to what you send.
• Delete a scan in the app to remove it. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.

The waitlist

If you join the waitlist we keep:

• your email address, and the pile name and iPhone type you chose in the form;
• the date you joined and the country your connection came from;
• a one-way scrambled form of your internet address, used only to stop automated sign-ups. It cannot be turned back into the address.

We use it to email you about Stockpile: a short confirmation when you join, the news when it is on the App Store, and occasional updates such as new features, tips and offers for the app. We keep a record of which emails we have sent, so nobody gets the same one twice. We never sell your details or share them with anyone except the two services below that store them and deliver the emails.

Every email says who it is from and has an unsubscribe link that takes you off the list straight away. We keep your details while you are on the list. If you unsubscribe we stop emailing you at once and delete your details within 30 days, keeping only what we need to make sure you are not emailed again.

Services we use

• Cloudflare hosts this website and the waitlist database.
• Resend delivers our emails.
• Fontshare serves the typeface the site is set in.

These companies are based in the United States and may store or process information outside New Zealand. They act on our instructions and are bound to protect it.

Visitor statistics

This site counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies, does not follow you across other sites and does not identify you. It tells us how many people visited and which pages they read. The site sets no cookies of any kind.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing Stockpile.volume@gmail.com. If you are not happy with our answer you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Children

The app and the waitlist are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with a new date, and shown in the app.
